Living Independently Forever on Cape Cod, Massachusetts

On the Cruise or At Home...a busy week......... by Jess Fallon
May 23, 2011

This is an exciting week at LIFE because our Bermuda Cruise go-ers will soon be heading for the high seas. I just saw a layout of the ship and it's HUGE- just like one of those boats on TV.

But for those us who prefer to have the grass under our toes, there are plenty of activities lined up here at LIFE.

On Friday, May 27, the starting point of LIFE's maiden voyage, staff members in Mashpee and Hyannis have planned some interesting activities for those of us who are remaining at LIFE for the week.

We will be out enjoying the Cape Cod sunshine (fingers crossed that the rain stops), dining at our favorite restaurants, mini-golfing and many other fun activities ( Hopefully, we'll also get to enjoy some ice cream at one of our favorite local ice cream parlors which are starting to open for summer business! )

Later in the week, there will be an opportunity to go on a "mini-cruise" for those of us who like our boat trips short and sweet.

I'm sure that the seafarers will return with tans, souvenirs, lots of photos and stories for all of us to hear.

So good luck to those heading off on the big trip and to those of us who are staying at LIFE: Let's have some FUN!

Art by Jess Fallon
I guess that art, like writing, depends on mood. I create abstracts, landscapes and cartoons. Cartoons are upbeat and funny. They can also be satirical and poke fun at everyday situations. But I try to stay away from controversial subjects like politics and religion.

Abstract art is different. It's different moods rolled into one. A picture could start out happy and wind up sad. It could be complicated.

Using colors is a good way to express mood. The same is true for designs like shapes and lines.

Art, like writing, sometimes has its snags and you wind up with something like that dreaded writer's block: Artist's Block!
